The Hose Industry Is On the Rise - Another Amazing and Highly Informative NAHAD Show
It was wonderful to experience a NAHAD show returning to its pre-pandemic glory in Miami in May of 2022, at the beautiful Fontainebleau Hotel. NAHAD has a knack for picking great destinations, and the soft Atlantic breezes and seaside vibes of this renowned Florida city did not disappoint.
There is something special about its attendees that set NAHAD Conventions apart. It is clearly the people, who flock in from across America, Canada, and Latin America. NAHAD attendees play hard and learn hard. It is so rewarding to share libations, great food, and even greater stories with these immensely good people and business partners.
Production and manufacturing industries still recovering.
Supply chain issues were a big topic, both in the NAHAD breakout sessions and during the convention show. It is clear some companies, both distributors and manufacturers, were caught off guard and were unable to plan as far ahead as required. Others who have inventory, either distributors who stocked up on industrial hot water hoses and hose swivel fittings, or manufacturers who increased production and inventory, provide a good lesson for keeping abreast with emerging, worldwide supply issues. SuperKlean certainly feels blessed that we planned far ahead and have experienced virtually no shortage issues.
We are all lucky to be in a huge industry that is beyond just essential. Foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and associated plants and factories of every type were tasked with overcoming endless, ever-changing obstacles to keep these most important supplies available and moving to their ultimate destinations. The attention to sanitation is greater than ever before, and as leaders in the washdown industry, SuperKlean continues to be a dedicated and prepared partner and supplier for all manufacturing industries.
We hope to see all of our NAHAD attendee friends and partners in 2023 in The Bahamas. For more details on this year’s 2022 NAHAD show and information about SuperKlean industrial hot water hose line, please call 949-533-2300.

One of the most frequent questions SuperKlean receives from Plant & Factory Managers revolves around the difficulties they encounter when trying to clean or maintain Steam Hose Stations that are positioned around their plant or factory. One Plant Safety Manager recently contacted our distributor regarding growing problems they were having with over 60 steam and cold water units sold by one of our competitors. These units had been in operation in some cases just for a few years, and in other cases for over a decade. Their hot water steam station problems were multifaceted; employees were getting burned by gaseous steam leaking into hot water hoses that were bursting open, endangering operators. Another problem was that their existing units often had to be removed from the wall for maintenance, with costs ranging from $450 for replacement parts, all the way up to approximately $1,500 when labor was included. During the tour, we asked why they did not perform preventative maintenance periodically. The answers were very familiar … they could not afford to shut down a production line that was running every day, it was too complex, and finally, it was too expensive.
SuperKlean offers the much needed solution. Managers at these plants and factories often switch over to SuperKlean’s DuraMix 8000 Steam and Cold Steam Hose Stations throughout their entire operation. The #1 reason we find is the 8000’s ‘Ease of Maintenance’ and 3 year warranty. More than two decades ago, SuperKlean designed the DuraMix 8000 Series based around an innovative, ‘on-the-wall’ preventative maintenance capability that requires only 15 minutes, and remarkably, only a $2.50 replacement gasket. Our kit for steam hose station matintenance consists of a $2.50 gasket, and we provide 2 free gaskets in each 8000 box we ship!
Plant Maintenance Managers can have their teams watch SuperKlean’s short 4 minute Preventative Maintenance video, then perform the entire, simple maintenance procedure during a shift break or lunch.
SuperKlean found during our 30 year history of designing and selling exceptional Hot and Cold Water Hose Stations and Steam & Cold water mixing stations across the globe, that food, beverage, pharma, dairy, and countless other vertical markets depending on steam can often be very greasy places. This means the equipment used, especially Steam Hose Stations, needs to be constantly cleaned and well-maintained. We design and manufacture our hose stations, industrial hot water hoses, low flow nozzles, and entire line of washdown equipment to stand up to the harshest environments. SuperKlean understands that plants and factories across the country must keep their lines moving, so our superior washdown equipment saves you both time and money on maintenance.
SuperKlean’s technical staff can assist you in designing a maintenance plan that fits your specific plant’s requirements based on the washdown equipment you have. Often, Plant Maintenance Managers will do preventative maintenance on steam host stations every 6 months, or 12 months, with a schedule that matches each specific area where a SuperKlean steam hose station is being used. In many cases, frequency of preventative maintenance is also based on the type of local water being used (highly mineralized versus normal water) or the type and age of piping throughout the factory or plant.
With SuperKlean’s easy, fast and low cost preventative maintenance, your steam hose stations can last for many years. Performing quick and easy preventative maintenance is a guaranteed way to washdown success.

More than Ever, Thorough Cleaning and Plant Sanitation, With Low Overhead and Better Ergonomics, are Key to the Best Plants and Factories
Many Food, Beverage and Pharma companies often ask SuperKlean’s Marketing Team what we would suggest for improving their factory and plant cleaning and sanitation process while reduces ever-more-costly water overhead. Here is a short list of 5 suggestions that we provide:
Best Practice #1:
Thoroughly train and encourage your cleaning staff to first “pre-rinse” and “wet-down” all areas that need deep cleaning.
Sounds simple, but effective pre-spraying of hot water will go a long way to loosening debris and unseen bacteria or pathogens that can build up over never-ending days of production. In fact, studies show that pre-rinsing can go a long way to reducing the total amount of water that plants and factories have to heat up, as well as use, to do deep plant sanitation. SuperKlean’s wide range of industrial spray nozzles all feature multiple ‘fan-spray’ settings to accomplish water-saving pre-rinse.
Best Practice # 2:
Closely monitor and maintain the correct temperature during hot water washdown.
Sanitizing at the appropriate temperature is important for everyone, from your company who wants to provide the safest, pathogen free products, to the USDA and FDA who are ever-increasing stringent, minimum hot water temperatures, to the eventual citizen who consumes your products. SuperKlean sells a wide range of solutions to track your factory’s hot water plant sanitation needs, including low-cost temperature gauges that easily screw into all SuperKlean hose stations (Steam & Cold Water mixing valve, Hot & Cold Water mixing valve, and Single Valve.) SuperKlean also provide our popular ThermoSmart T150 Industrial Spray Nozzles with a low-cost, built-in, digital temperature readout that your employees can monitor in real time, while they are spraying. It is amazing what the correct-temperature hot water can do to maximize your plant sanitation and cleaning, while saving precious water resources and reducing employee fatigue. For over 30 years SuperKlean has implemented an ongoing “Continuous Improvement” corporate motto. This makes it easy to say, SuperKlean sells exceptional, hot water washdown products!
Steam, and Hot and cold water mixing valves with temperature gauges.
Best Practice #3:
Use the best plant sanitation tools for the job at hand.
SuperKlean sells the industry’s widest line of heavy duty spray nozzles and accessories for every type of factory and plant sanitation job. We believe it all starts with the best Mixing Hose Stations, that provide long and trustworthy service, maintaining the trustworthy operation performance your plant or factory requires. We know you cannot tolerate any downtime.
SuperKlean Mixing Stations provide fast and efficient 15 minute, ‘on-the-wall’ hot water hose station maintenance, and all at less than $3 dollars of material cost. All plant managers need to supply is a simple wrench, and with this Preventive Maintenance they can ensure their hose station will last for many years! A side benefit? This also reduces plant overhead and hidden costs. (Please watch our Steam Hose Station Maintenance Video here.) SuperKlean also provides the best built hot water hoses, with our renowned, extra-long hose adapter fittings to ensure no water leakage, or what can turn into dreaded tepid water on factory floors.
SuperKlean also offers our popular LifeSpan Internal Hose Guards. If your factory and plant sanitation team wants to greatly extend the investments you make in hot water hoses, SuperKlean’s LifeSpan internal hose guards will do this at very low additional cost. If we were to ask, where do most of your hoses fail, the answer would almost unanimously be, at the ends! LifeSpan Hose Guards protect the ends of your hoses so they will last as long as the center of your hoses!
Call us today for more information, and technical feedback on exactly what SuperKlean industrial heavy duty water gun will best suit your specific plant sanitation and cleaning needs.
Best Practice #4:
Ensure the safety of your employees.
SuperKlean pays close attention to employee safety and the overall ergonomics built into each of our products. Many of the world’s largest food, beverage, pharma, dairy, meat processors, cheese manufacturers, nutraceutical plants and countless other vertical markets trust SuperKlean Steam & Cold Water Hose Stations as the safest to operate in these industries. Steam is often a difficult beast to control, while maintaining ultimate safety. SuperKlean’s famous DuraMix 8000 Series Hose Stations and hot water hose products meet these stringent safety standards. Click here for steam safety documentation and video materials that explain our safety at length.
SuperKlean also designs (and continuously improves and redesigns) our products to be easier and safer to operate, reducing wrist and hand fatigue that often occur during intensive, long hours of plant sanitation, and what seems to be, endless cleaning. This SuperKlean commitment to employee and plant safety is what helps ensure top food and product excellence to all product consumers across the world.
Employee safety is one of the keys to smooth operation. Safe steam hose stations, hot and cold water mixing valves, heavy duty hose nozzles, and long-lasting hot water washdown hoses that do not compromise on industrial strength are a necessity for plant sanitation. Plant Managers and Safety Managers are turning to SuperKlean’s extensive line of hot water sanitation products to fill this need. These highly professional managers are tasked to ensure their plant machinery, floors, walls and ceilings are pristine, and that their employees are safe during the exhaustive sanitation process that requires extended periods of hot water washdown.
Best Practices #5:

That includes paying close attention to both the big and little things, including carefully choosing which suppliers you trust, and thus, align yourselves with. Cargo ships in a traffic jam off the coast of California.
Looking back, it seems as though there has been ongoing chaos and unexpected problems lately. Most recently, America has been faced with a massive halt in distribution, with massive container ships sitting off America’s coasts delaying deliveries and emptying shelves. But, as always, America’s distribution channels, dependable industrial plants, and driven manufacturers will find a way to keep the flow of essential items to our fellow citizens going strong.
With some careful and wise advance planning, SuperKlean has done its part. We normally keep fully stocked inventory in both of our North American warehouses, holding at least six months of inventory on almost every Industrial Hot Water Washdown product we design and manufacture. That inventory cost burden certainly has added to our overhead over the years, but, in conjunction with exceptional products and service, this has paid off with a happy and loyal
distribution channel, and thankful plant and factory managers. In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, SuperKlean had the foresight to dramatically increase our inventory at the same time industrial factories and plants were in successive phases of shutdown. We strategically increased from our normal 6 month reserve inventory stock to much higher inventory levels. That pre-planning has now given us the capability to continuously ship virtually every SuperKlean product same day or next day! If you are experiencing delays with other washdown manufacturers like Streamline Valves, or other suppliers, please contact us for the exact crossover sanitation washdown SKU that will be equivalent or even better than the ones you have been purchasing.

Industrial Food & Beverage Plants Worldwide Turn to SuperKlean’s DuraMix 8000 Steam and Cold Water Mixing unit for Ultimate Safety
Dangerous Hot Steam Leakage into Industrial Hoses Increasingly Plagues Leading Industries Worldwide and SuperKlean Steam Water Mixing Stations Provide the Solution.
Burlingame California – August 2021
Burst washdown hose due to leaking steam.
Over the past several years SuperKlean Washdown Products has been receiving a growing number of calls, across many industries, from Plant Safety Managers who are all reporting the same type of problems – dangerous hot steam leaking through their current steam water mixing stations and bursting their attached, heavy duty industrial washdown hoses.
Steam is a powerful cleaning method when paired with the proper equipment, such as a durable washdown hose and industrial spray nozzle.
Using steam to create hot water across industries worldwide is still a preferred method for heating vast amounts of water in these plants and factories. The FDA and other governmental organizations are requiring higher and higher temperatures to kill emerging, stronger strains of pathogens and bad bacteria.
Recently, SuperKlean executives toured a huge, new, state-of-the-art nutraceutical plant in Phoenix. This well-known corporation retained a highly professional commercial plumbing organization to oversee the build-out of this factory. What we saw was an incredible sight, the inside shell of a new building over 2 football fields long, with steam piping and cold water piping installed at various points in the ceiling throughout this enormous facility. What this demonstrated is that steam-based heating of water at the best plants and factories around America continues to be a preferred alternative.
But steam generation in factories must to be handled carefully for the most efficient and safest results. Employees burned from either live steam, or very hot steam-heated water cause Plant Managers, Safety Managers, and Plant Maintenance Managers growing and ongoing problems. Steam burns can be a bad or worse as fire-related burns, due to the fact that steam penetrates the lower layers of human skin, making treatment and visual inspection of this burn damage difficult to ascertain. Hose mixing units must have the appropriate safety features to eliminate any possibility of steam leakage.
Also, plant efficiency clearly drops from steam efficiency and safety issues. Steam leakage issues can create unwanted deposits of excess tepid water from steam condensate on factory floors. Plus, inefficient operation of steam and cold water mixing units results in excessive downtime that is needed to repair or maintain faulty hose stations.
Tepid water on factory floors is a breeding ground for pathogenic contaminates. This is the exact opposite environment that Plant Managers and governmental agencies require. So, the best steam hose mixing station solutions are becoming mandatory for an efficiently run industrial plant or factory.
Thousands of companies worldwide trust SuperKlean hose mixing units.
SuperKlean’s DuraMix 8000 Series of Steam and Cold Water Mixers are renowned as the safest and most efficient stainless steel water valves in the world. SuperKlean has been shipping these steam bronze and stainless steel mixing valves for over 30 years. At this very moment, SuperKlean steam stainless steel mixing valves are being used by dozens of the Top 100 Food & Beverage manufacturers, at multiple locations they have built throughout several countries. If fact, the world’s most trusted and well-known steam company private label’s SuperKlean’s DuraMix family of mixers, and also uses our SuperKlean industrial hose fittings, industrial hot water nozzles and hot water washdown hoses. Please see SuperKlean’s newest 2021-2022 Catalog for details.
Companies who use steam and steam hose stations must also consider the total cost of ownership before installing and using steam hose mixing units from competitive companies. SuperKlean Steam and Cold Water Mixing Units feature a 15 minute, ‘in place, on the wall’ preventative maintenance capability, meaning no “down-time,” that is often required by competitive steam hose stations. Competitive steam mixers often require removal from the wall or mounting solution, then rebuilding of the inner portions of the steam unit that, not counting labor, can cost $300 – $500 for each steam mixer.
For a full, visual technical explanation of the inner workings of SuperKlean’s DuraMix please watch the video above. No other steam water mixing station on the market has all the safety features built in as SuperKlean’s 8000 Series Mixers.
Call SuperKlean’s Sales Team at 949-533-2300 for information on how to set up a free 90 day DuraMix 8000 evaluation.

Tens of Thousands of the Leading Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Companies Worldwide Make SuperKlean’s Standard Heavy Duty Hose Nozzle a ‘Standard’ in Their Factories and Plants
Burlingame California – April 9, 2021
Written by: Bob Rudy, VP Sales and Marketing, SuperKlean
SuperKlean Washdown Products has been manufacturing and selling the hot water washdown industry’s widest range of industrial spray nozzles for over 30 years. We have continually expanded our industrial spray nozzle line to include many variations of industrial nozzles that fill specific needs. For instance, we recently added a ‘Lite’ Standard Spray Nozzle line of nozzles which look exactly like our Standard Nozzles, but weigh half as much as our most popular and heftier Standard Nozzle product line. Sales of the ‘Lite’ Nozzle have been very successful, yet our SuperKlean Standard Nozzle offerings continue to grow year after year.
The reason? Our Standard industrial spray nozzles are the world’s best heavy duty hose nozzles that take a beating in the most severe environments and just last longer than other nozzles. This increased life span makes them by far the most economical choice in over 30 vertical markets they are most often used in. SuperKlean designed our Standard Nozzle family to have both the strongest internal components, as well as superior covers that take on the brutal handling often needed to washdown factories and plants quickly, safely, and efficiently.
One additional reason our hot water nozzles are an industry favorite is that they can be purchased with either bronze, stainless steel, or aluminum internal construction. Each type of metal has its advantages, based on a wide and growing list of applications they are used in. Most recently, SuperKlean distributors are being contacted by a new class of nutraceutical, supplement, and ‘functional food’ manufacturers that have been emerging in our current health conscious world. This new class of companies want to insure an ultimate, clean environment and the ‘word on the street’ is that SuperKlean Standard nozzles are a mainstay in factories and plants seeking the best environmental solutions.
SuperKlean sees a slow, but clear trend towards lighter weight stainless steel and aluminum Dark Blue Standard Industrial Nozzles that have the same heavy duty hose nozzle durability as their heavier brass construction brothers. No matter what the choice, factories find that they do not have to replace their SuperKlean Standard nozzles as often, based on their superior durability and specially designed covers that absorb the rigors of modern industrial applications.
SuperKlean Standard Nozzles are most often purchased in our best-selling Dark Blue color, with Red or White covers also available ‘off the shelf’ and ready for same-day shipment, over 98% of the time. Other colors include Light Blue and Gray. Most manufacturers prefer the Dark Blue Color over older Black color nozzles, as they ‘stand out’ in factory and plant environments.
For more information on SuperKlean Standard Nozzles, or our full line of heavy duty hose nozzles please visit our website at www.superklean.com, or call SuperKlean for immediate technical assistance in choosing the perfect nozzle for your application at 900-769-9173.
Yes, 2020 Was a Tough Year, But the Worldwide Thirst for Great Wine is Here to Stay!
Napa Valley wineries faced the toughest fire season in 2020.
2020 proved to be a difficult year for the wine industry in the midst of pandemics, fires, closures, and uncertainty. But in life, there are always some things that are fairly constant. And one of those things is that many hundreds of millions of citizens in our world have a passionate love for wines. Sure, there are times and trends that drop that number a bit or increase it, but the love and consumption of wine have been around for thousands of years and over the long run, will continue to grow, mature, and evolve.
The global pandemic forced the winery industry to close their vineyards.
One other constant … Countless millions of the world’s citizens are enamored with visiting beautiful wineries and learning more about this cherished beverage, the wondrous land on which it is grown, and master vintners who orchestrate the maturation of these delectable grapes. The world’s finest, forward-thinking wineries are finding new avenues of taking their winemaking (and wine-selling) excellence to the next level, both through science and marketing innovation.
It cannot be denied – the number of wineries yielding an ever-growing assortment of amazing vintages is increasing. Maybe the industry is catching its breath in any given year, but it can also be said that there will always be a pent-up demand to taste and experience the world’s evolving and exciting wine scene. This fact was vividly evident as SuperKlean participated in our virtual booth at this year’s 2021 Wine and Grape Symposium in late January.
Billions of dollars are earned yearly in worldwide grape production. New vines that were planted in droves during the last several years are just coming into their own. There are now an amazing 10,000 plus wineries just in the U.S., but this represents only a bit over 10% of the worldwide wine business. So many incredible wines and so little time!
Winemakers know these basic numbers, and the best of them are just as hard at work as ever, preparing to mesmerize us with their newest wine creations for decades to come. Will the wine business decline a few percent? Maybe. Will it be larger in 2025 than it is today? Probably. So just sit back and prepare to enjoy the wine scene as it matures in the coming decades.
The best wineries are like the world’s best businesses, restaurants, and manufacturers – always improving – never stopping their continuous improvement quests. In 2021, many winemakers are already months into executing their bold plans. This includes improvement of soils, implementing many new science-driven breakthroughs, researching ways to reach new heights in taste and yield, and dramatically transforming their vineyards, winery building and grounds into visually enchanting wonderland for visitors as the world reopens.
Wineries across the country trust SuperKlean winery nozzles and hot and cold water mixing stations to keep their wineries up and running during unprecedented times.
SuperKlean Washdown Products is playing our role in providing the finest and most cost-effective winery sanitation solutions. Our mission is to help improving the efficient cleaning and sanitation techniques to be used as winery teams strive to reach new levels of sparkling cleanliness. SuperKlean’s industrial hose down sanitation products and hot and cold water mixers are used in the finest Fortune 1000 beverage facilities in the world and at thousands of the finest wineries across the globe. We have been constantly improving our delivery solutions while keeping our manufacturing and selling costs as low as possible. This enables wineries to use just the highest quality hot water washdown spray nozzle at just the right hot water temperature, with minimal amounts of water. This insures that winery managers meet their most stringent cleanliness goals, while keeping energy costs to a minimum and water savings to a maximum.
Many wineries are finding that using more closely and strategically placed SuperKlean hot and cold water mixing stations reduces the lengths of winery hot water hoses needed to reach every sanitation area our hot water spray nozzles need to target. This minimizes the time and effort needed to uncurl heavy hot water industrial hoses from the hot and cold water mixer and included industrial hose rack. It also reduces physical strain on their employees and the time needed to clean their cellars and warehouse areas. This time-saving strategy saves money and improves productivity over the long run, while keeping wet or damp hoses off the ground. The overall goal is to allow all floor spaces to dry out more quickly, thus reducing the chances for bad bacteria to accumulate.
SuperKlean’s complete ‘closed-loop-washdown,’ includes our 3600 Series Hot & Cold Water Hose Stations, industrial Microban hot water hoses, DuraLife ‘no-leak’ hose barb adapters and commercial hose nozzles. These exceptional set of hot water winery cleaning products make sure that precious water is only applied where it is needed. SuperKlean winery products provide end-to-end manufacturing excellence and are designed and built to stringent tolerances at SuperKlean. The final mission? To insure water does not seep or gather where it is not wanted while reaching the highest levels of environmental excellence!
The best winery management teams realize that strategically important wine connoisseurs and their best VIP ‘estate-bottle-buying’ visitors want to be taken on tours by winemaking experts to experience the many intricate steps undertaken in state-of-the-art winemaking processes. In the past, some areas in wineries were not easily accessible or to messy to be toured. Today, those areas have been ‘beautified’ and actually featured, so interested observers can meet and get to know their favorite winemakers, creating memories of the most interesting aspects of the winemaking process. This personalized, ‘deep-care’ shown to visitors often turns into life-long committed purchasers, both onsite and to the all-important, emerging ‘direct-to-consumer’ category. There is nothing like a wine enthusiast who can tell a wonderful story about a visit to a most magnificent winery, personally given by a famous winemaker.

Independently Tested #1 Among The Top 5 Steam Washdown Competitors
12 years ago, a world leader in steam products embarked on a year long in-depth comparison test of the world’s best steam water mixing stations. Their quest was to choose the best partner to integrate into their famous steam product line. This undisputed steam products leader, with over 1,000 steam engineers on payroll in over 30 countries, needed to ensure they provided their customers with the absolute best steam and cold water mixing unit available. After exhaustive testing, SuperKlean was chosen over 5 worthy competitors. Today, 12 years later, SuperKlean is still their sole partner for safe and environmentally exceptional steam and cold water washdown solutions.
As a plant manager for one of America’s largest frozen strawberry producers said, “SuperKlean’s DuraMix 8000 Steam Mixers are the best I have used in my 30 years in the food processing business. They are the Cadillac of mixing stations, and all the others are like Model T’s!”
We truly value safety and satisfaction in all our washdown equipment, and we know our customers do too. Please continue reading to see how three struggling factories utilized SuperKlean industrial sanitation washdown equipment to solve safety concerns and maximize efficiency.
Case Study 1
This world famous flavoring and fragrance leader struggled with steam mixing stations for decades, controlling temperature of water and most recently fighting steam leaking into hoses through competitors mixing stations. The Plant Safety Manager provided a tour to demonstrate the problem. He said “stand back,” picked up a hose and started spraying, with dangerous steam coming out of the nozzle. After about 5 seconds, the steam sputtered with hot water, then finally produced a steady stream of hot water. The dangerous excess steam posed a daily hazard for operators who were subjected to unpredictable steam and hot water release. This company has now replaced over 40 of the competitors steam mixers with SuperKlean DuraMix 8000 units.
Case Study 2
Industrial hot water hoses burst from accumulated steam pressure from leaking steam in a competitive mixing unit.
A billion dollar food and condiments manufacturer with over a dozen U.S. locations was having issues with steam leaking into hoses, bursting them, and in one instance, blowing off a nozzle completely. (See photo of burst hoses). This was due to a lack of secure stops or steam poppets in the mixing unit that should prevent any excess steam from being released. If the steam poppet does not form a complete seal, steam will leak out of the unit and into the hose. This Plant Safety Manager is in the process of replacing up to 60 of these competitors steam units with SuperKlean’s Duramix 8000. Managers at this company’s other locations are now doing the same.
Case Study 3
A worker at a dairy in the Northwest who had been spraying and sanitizing set the hose and nozzle down, resuming about an hour later to continue. He mistakenly pointed the nozzle at himself, burning himself with steam that had accumulated in the hose while he was away. He needed to be taken for special medical assistance to be treated for severe burns. Steam burns are extremely dangerous and steam leaks in washdown equipment is a massive safety concern. The distributor who sold the competitors steam units replaced the leaking steam units at this dairy with SuperKlean DuraMix 8000 steam stations.
The above studies show why SuperKlean hot water mixing stations the best in the world, especially when it comes to safety. Our unique internal design does not allow live steam to penetrate out of the steam chamber when not in use. If water pressure fails, the Duramix 8000 will automatically close the steam poppet and not allow live steam to pass through our mixing unit, thus making this unit the safest in the market. Check out our DuraMix 8000 Steam & Cold Water Mixing Station to see if it is the right fit for your factory.
Famous Winemaker Alessio Carli Demonstrates His Strategies for Optimum Hot Water Winery Sanitation
SuperKlean Washdown Products has been manufacturing the world’s leading hot water sanitation products for over 30 years. Our distributors sell SuperKlean hot and cold water mixers, hose swivel fittings, adapters, hot water spray nozzles and hoses in over 40 different vertical markets, making us one of the most popular sanitation companies at over 10,000 plants and factories world-wide.
One special vertical market where we have been extremely successful is wineries. Thousands of the finest wineries in over 30 countries depend on SuperKlean to help sanitize their wine cellars and entire vineyard. Recently, SuperKlean was invited to tour one of the most beautiful wineries in the Uvas Valley of California, home to dozens of fine wineries. This area is not far from the Pacific Ocean and popular tourist spots like Monterrey, the famed Pebble Beach 17 mile drive, and Santa Cruz.
SuperKlean Washdown Product customers – Dorcich Family Vineyards in Uvas Valley, California.
Our host for the afternoon was prominent winemaker Alessio Carli, who was gracious enough to take us on an extensive tour of Dorcich’s operation that has been in existence for over 120 years, since 1897. Alessio is a native of Sienna Italy and has been making acclaimed wine in California for almost 30 years.
Alessio uses SuperKlean products as an integral component in strategically sanitizing his state of the art winery, upholding Dorcich’s long history of environmentally-conscious farming and wine growing, a hallmark of the Dorcich family.
Our first impression was how pristine the grounds and buildings were, from the tasting rooms to the cellars and on to the outer buildings. Alessio showed us how he has been using SuperKlean mixing stations, nozzles and adapters for over 17 years for his hot water washdown.
Renowned winemaker, Alessio Carli, shows how he prefers to utilize many SuperKlean hot & Cold water mixing stations to keep his winery in pristine sanitary condition.
Dorcich Family Vineyards produces a variety of wines, specializing in cabernet, merlot, and Syrah, along with chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc. At this particular facility Alessio uses 10 SuperKlean 3600 Series Hot & Cold Mixing stations, along with SuperKlean’s 150 Series hot water spray nozzles and hose swivel fittings.
One interesting strategy Alessio implements to keep his cellars ultra-clean is to not leave washdown hoses uncurled on his winery floors. To accomplish this he installs SuperKlean 3600 Series hot and cold water mixers in close proximity to each other. This allows him to use a shorter washdown hose that is easier for winery employees to manage and roll back up after usage, directly on the 3600’s included industrial hose racks.
This one simple strategy makes winery sanitation easier for the Dorcich winery staff, and also saves tripping over large, heavy hoses. Many other wineries use SuperKlean hot and cold mixing valves and commercial hose nozzles in the same way, finding that wine cellar floors will dry quicker without long, wet washdown hoses lying on the floor.
Potentially bad bacteria can form on wet floors with warm, tepid water, especially between 70 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, the effective life of an industrial hose can be limited, due to laying in wet areas while bacteria forms, and also as a result of constant dragging of long heavy hoses across cellar or factory floors. Knowledgeable managers know that over time water-filled hoses dragged across some concrete floors can develop microscopic abrasions and grooves that more quickly break down rubber hoses, and provide a place for bacteria to accumulate.
For example, with a 25 foot hose, it is simple to use hot water to sanitize a small area by just unwinding the hose a few times from the hose rack. Many wineries, including Dorcich, will install low-cost 3600 Series SuperKlean mixers just 25 to 40 feet apart so they can perform spot hot water cleaning and sanitation in trouble areas throughout the cellar. Dorcich often purchases SuperKlean 3600 hot & cold water mixers with our optional temperature gauge so they can also monitor hot water temperatures during cellar sanitation.
SuperKlean has designed our hot water sanitation products so they do not leak unwanted water onto floors, starting with the hot and cold water connections at the base of our mixing stations, all the way through the hose, to the end of the industrial hose nozzle. Each SuperKlean hot and cold water mixer is available with quick, quarter-turn hot and cold water mixing valves. These ball valves provide quick, no leak on and off operation. This is Alessio’s 3600 of choice. Some wineries prefer globe valves that can offer more precise hot water temperature control.

SuperKlean Hot Water Sanitation Hoses with LifeSpan Internal Hose Guards Fixes Age-Old Factory and Plant Problem
Leaking steam from the mixing unit can accumulate and build pressure in the washdown hose, eventually bursting and potentially burning operators.
For over two decades, SuperKlean customers have been telling us that their hot water hoses most often break right at the ends, both near the hose barb/nozzle or right next to the mixing station hot water hose connection. If fact, thousands of factories regularly cut off the ends of their hoses, then either send them out for a new hose barb adapter to be attached or buy inhouse hose equipment so the Maintenance Department can rework these hoses in-house. No matter the method, this hose wearing at the ends of the hose adds considerable cost to the money spent on hot water industrial hoses each year. Often, factories and plants think it is cheaper to just order new replacement hoses, more often. Essentially, they don’t get the full life span of otherwise still useful hoses!
Several years ago SuperKlean came up with the answer – a lightweight, internal and bendable stainless steel spring that is mounted directly to the hose barb, inside the hose. With this feature, sharp edges of the hose barb do not cut into and wear down the internal ends of these hot water hoses.
Industrial hot water hoses, like SuperKlean’s own extensive brand tend to be quite heavy and very hard to bend when cold. When hot water, normally between 120 degrees and up to 170 degrees, flow through the hoses, they become very soft and pliable. Factory workers have to pull and drag on these hoses, creating internal pressure points at both hose barb ends of these heat-softened hoses. Constant scraping of the hose barb inside the hose grinds into the one or both ends of the hoses, creating the weak points that dictate constant replacement, waste, and undue costs to these factories and plants.
With SuperKlean’s ingenious LifeSpan Internal Hose Guard, there is no weak link created at the ends, allowing the hose to last much, much longer, using up the entire natural life of the hose.
Multiply these savings on hose replacements and repairing by the up to dozens of hot water sanitation hoses many factories need to use, and it is easy to see the thousands of dollars on industrial hot water hose costs that can be saved each year. Also, there is the added cost of labor and the additional cost of downtime of having to purchase new or reworked hoses.
SuperKlean carries top of the line washdown hose assemblies and hose swivel fittings and adapters for any application.
SuperKlean LifeSpan Internal Hose Guards are built at SuperKlean’s factory, using the same, high quality SuperKlean Hose Barb Adapters, the best available in the industry. Factory and plant workers don’t even feel the miniscule added internal hose guard weight (about 3.6 ounces cumulative for both ends. Factory and plant Maintenance and Safety Managers no longer have to worry about weakened hoses and constant replacements of their hot water industrial sanitation hoses.
SuperKlean LifeSpan Hose Guards are just a small fraction of cost to hot water hoses, and yield enormous savings year over year when compared to normal hoses without internal hose guard protection.
Please call SuperKlean today for information on cost and how to purchase SuperKlean LifeSpan Internal Hose Guards. As with our entire line of industrial hot water sanitation equipment, our hose guards are always available off-the-shelf for immediate delivery. They can either be built into SuperKlean’s full line of branded hoses, or available from one of our hundreds of Authorized Distributors across the globe.

Why Combining Face Shields and Face Masks
May be the Better Solution for Workers
For millions of Americans, face masks quickly became part of regular daily attire as officials stressed the need for PPE. However, health officials and experts now are stressing that masks are not sufficient, instead advocating for the use of full safety face shields. Why? Face shields offer far more protection to all areas of the face, greatly minimizing the risk of accidentally contaminating yourself by rubbing your eyes or adjusting your mask, which often happens unconsciously with extended mask wear. While wearing surgical-type face masks can protect others from your saliva, the lack of full coverage still leaves your face extremely vulnerable. Studies have shown that respiratory viruses not only enter the body through the nose and mouth, but through the eyes as well.
Simple face masks unfortunately have some shortcomings. With itchy or ill-fitting masks, people are far more inclined to touch their face or adjust their mask, defeating the purpose of protective wear. If people are not used to continuously wearing facial coverings, they often tend to touch their face and eyes.
This is not to say that masks are ineffective, but they can become infinitely more effective with the combined with the use of face shields.
Safety face shields cover the entire face without actually coming into contact with the majority of the face. A comfortable foam headband positions the shield at a slight distance from the face, eliminating any uncomfortable or irritating contact and reducing the urge to touch your face.
A plastic shield offers a more extensive layer of filtration that masks cannot. When paired together, face masks and face shields form effective barriers against the inhalation or landing of any droplets through the nose, mouth, or eyes. Employees who work in close quarters or regularly come into contact with others in the workplace should wear full face shields if not protected by other measures such as plexiglass barriers.
Unfortunately, the surge for PPE has left many workers without adequate protection, thus putting themselves at risk every day as the core functioning members of society.
As a company founded on promoting sanitary practices and providing the best factory and plant sanitation products, SuperKlean understands the need for these workers to be safe. Face shields, in conjunction with masks and gloves, can not only offer proper protection, but also provide a little peace of mind.
For over 3 decades, SuperKlean has been the leader in best sanitation equipment and practices. Let us help you be safe!
The quality and designed-in safety of swivel connector hose barbs for hot water washdown nozzles is a critical component to insure the assembly of the absolute best hot water hoses. Hose swivel adapters, often also called hose shanks, vary greatly in quality and ability to withstand heavy usage in factories and plants worldwide.
The best standard swivel adapters for connection to hot water nozzles incorporate advanced O- ring designs, versus traditional C-ring construction found on many of today’s swivel hose barb adapters. While it is less costly to manufacture swivel connectors with C-ring designs, it is proven that O-ring designed swivel hose fittings last considerably longer and are much less prone to becoming loose and leaking unwelcome water onto factory or industrial plant floors.
Increasingly, the Food & Drug Administration is requiring that food and beverage processors, along with most other industrial plants and factories, keep their floors and production areas devoid of standing water. These wet areas are where the worst pathogens, including bacteria and viruses thrive. It is critical that all hot water and steam connections in a factory are kept ‘leak-free,’ and SuperKlean is at the forefront of this initiative.
SuperKlean Washdown Products has been making swivel hose shank adapters for almost 3 decades. As part of our ‘Continuous Improvement’ philosophy, we moved away from our original C-ring design to O-rings on all of our swivel hose barb adapters almost two decades ago. Be sure to choose swivel hose barbs with O-ring construction.
Another important factor for exceptional swivel hose barb design is the length of the actual hose barb. All SuperKlean swivel hose barb adapters are designed with extra-long 2.25” barbs, making room on the barb for hose distributors and fabricators to ‘double-band’ their hoses. This two-band fabrication technique insures a more solid connection that will not slip or leak over time, due to heavy usage in production areas.
SuperKlean ball swivel adapters and fittings make the industrial hose down process much more comfortable for operators.
SuperKlean also sells a complete line of ball swivel hose adapters with the same O-ring and extra-long hose barb features. SuperKlean was the first company to introduce the ball swivel fittings to the washdown market, we are the most popular version available. Renown for the fact that our ball swivel adapters do not leak. These multi-axis swivel adapters are extensively used to reduce operator fatigue by allowing natural wrist movement and reducing the need to drag and reposition heavy hot water hoses during the washdown process. All SuperKlean custom-assembled hoses feature our own standard and ball swivel adapters, with expert double-banding and next day shipments that SuperKlean is famous for.
The best engineered heavy-duty hot water hoses and industrial washdown nozzles are designed to help protect workers, while being rugged enough to constantly handle extremely hot water used during washdown. SuperKlean Washdown Products has also designed a full line of the industry’s most popular hot water nozzles to help guard against industrial worker injury and accidental spraying, while reducing fatigue.
